Students in Action at Bayside High School
Students in Action has been extra busy this year at Bayside High School in Palm Bay, Florida! They have done both a park and a beach clean up each month, hosted two toy drives (Salvation Army’s Angel Tree toy drive and Operation Christmas Child), and made candy bags for children.
2015 Fall Leadership Conference
The 9th annual Students In Action Leadership Conference was held on Saturday, October 3rd at the Brevard Public Schools District Office. This year’s Leadership Conference was designed and facilitated by students from the University of Central Florida Lead Scholars Academy lead by Amelia Gallo. The Lead Scholars Academy is a selective, two year academic leadership development program for students committed to academic excellence and making a difference in the world around them. The scholars make a difference in the UCF and Central Florida community with thousands of hours of community service each year. The Students in Action Leadership Conference challenges the high school student leaders to develop leadership, communication and problem solving skills while building cross-cultural bonds and preparing them for active, contributing roles in their communities. The students participate in workshops that focus on collaboration, innovation, effective communication, team building and problem solving. They also participated in two service projects that benefited the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida and the Sue Pridmore Center for Women & Children of Melbourne. This year there were more than 60 students from the following participating schools: Bayside High School, Edgewood Jr/Sr High School, Leesburg High School, Melbourne High School, Mt. Dora High School, Southlake High School and Viera High School.
